My BACU girls will appreciate this…

So far our Big Adventure has been full of new and exciting stuff. We’ve enjoyed $1 endless popcorn and $1 beers at the Tiki Bar, more than once. We’ve slept at Walmart, more than once. We’ve spent way too much time in the waiting area of Camping World, also more than much.

We’ve white-knuckled our way through the big wind of Texas. We’ve experienced unexpected waterfront property with loud waterfowl. We’ve adjusted to 320 square feet of living space. And lots more. We”re doing great. Life is good.

IMG_1013The only thing that could be better is FAMILY and FRIENDS. As lifetime Ohio residents, we’re not accustomed to extended periods of time without the crew nearby. One of the best parts of our Big Adventure has been time spent with our daughter. She’s moved to North Hollywood last May. Wintering within driving distance of her (and her pooch Beesly) was one of our goals. That and NO snow.

photoLast night we had the opportunity to meet up with our great friends, fellow Ohioans, fellow RV’ers and fellow bloggers Kathy and Raymond Crabtree. Their blog is www.rvtreehousing.com. Kathy and I became BFF’s as former columnist for The Press Newspaper in our hometown of Oregon, Ohio. Kathy and Ray have been in Portland, Oregon since late spring and are heading back to Oregon, Ohio for the holidays. (We’re kind of envious, except for the weather.)

IMG_1276We crossed paths in Blythe California. The drive from Earp California to Blythe included a stunning desert sunset followed by an hour drive in serious darkness. Since we’ve been west, we’ve realized we had never experienced darkness quite like the desolate darkness of the desert. It’s cool, but a tiny bit eery. Could we be anymore midwestern?
